Before I ever built a website or ran a single ad campaign, I spent the better part of a decade in gas pipeline safety and compliance. I improved standard operating procedures, conducted training on compliance and safety regulations, and managed regional operations. It taught me how to think in systems — how to look at a messy process and find the structure hiding inside it.

Then life shifted. I left that career to help my family's business — a fiberglass repair and refinishing company that works on tubs, showers, and pools. When I came on board, my dad was still using handwritten work orders. Their digital presence was practically nonexistent. The tools he did have? The website was being managed by an agency that charged a fortune, and their social media accounts were collecting dust.

So I rolled up my sleeves. I worked alongside my dad to overhaul daily operations and workflow — streamlining work order generation and completion, building out proper record keeping, and setting up real inventory and expense tracking. On the digital side, I took control of the website, improved their SEO so customers could actually find them, and helped set up their social media pages so they at least had a presence.

But I didn't stop there. I built a custom mobile app — a “Service Central” platform where anyone can submit a service request, and commercial customers get their own dashboard to track the status of their jobs. It handles work orders, employee time and mileage tracking, invoicing — everything the business needs in one place.

That experience opened my eyes. If my family's business was struggling with these things, how many other small businesses out there were dealing with the exact same headaches? Overpaying agencies for basic websites, running on paper systems when better tools exist, losing customers simply because they can't be found online?
